Hello, I’m Adrie-Anne.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
I know how hard it can be to reach out for support and open up about the parts of your life that are vulnerable, painful or confusing. It can feel even harder if you've tried before and felt misunderstood or judged.
At the heart of my work is the belief that people deserve to be cared about, seen, heard, and accepted without judgment.
I genuinely want to understand you and get to know who you are. Not just what you're struggling with, but what has happened, what has shaped you, what matters most to you, and what healing looks like for you. I believe healing often begins when someone feels truly seen and accepted.
Over the past decade, I’ve devoted my career to understanding trauma, anxiety, attachment, family dynamics, and the ways painful experiences continue to affect people long after they’re over. I believe that when we begin to understand why we struggle, our experiences start to make more sense and that’s often where healing begins.
I am willing to sit with the difficult parts of life with you: the fear, shame, guilt, anxiety, confusion and the parts of yourself you've had to hide just to get through. Not because those things define you, but because they often hold important information about what you have experienced and what you have needed.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is watching someone begin to see themselves differently, reconnect with their worth, and gain clarity about who they are and what they have been through.
Therapy with me is about helping you understand why you feel, think, and respond the way you do.
We will explore how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, respond to others, and navigate difficult moments.
Together, we will look at why certain patterns keep showing up, where they came from, and how you can begin responding in ways that feel more aligned with who you are today.
Therapy is not just about talking about what happened in the past; it is also about understanding what happens in the present, including your thoughts, emotions, body responses, and the ways you have learned to protect yourself. We will make sense of what you have been through while also building practical tools you can use when old patterns, emotions, and stress responses show up in everyday life.
We will also focus on the practical parts of everyday life. This may include learning how to regulate when you feel overwhelmed, prepare for difficult conversations, set boundaries, respond differently when old patterns are triggered, and build greater trust in yourself.
For some people, healing includes deeper trauma processing work to help painful experiences feel less stuck and easier to carry.
I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor, Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling, and EMDR Therapist with a Master of Counselling degree.
My training includes trauma therapy, EMDR, attachment based approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. I have also completed specialized training in complex relational trauma, dissociation, and narcissistic abuse recovery (see full list below).
Outside of therapy, I enjoy music, art, reading, writing, travelling, camping, horseback riding, spending time near the ocean, and playing with my dogs.
I value quiet moments, meaningful conversations, creativity, and the simple things that bring joy and connection. I also enjoy a good laugh, a good pizza, and appreciating the little moments that make life meaningful.
My faith shapes the way I see people, relationships, and healing. I believe God created each person with worth, dignity, and value, and that we are all created for deep belonging and connection. For those who would like faith included in therapy, I offer counselling from an accepting Christian perspective. While my faith is an important part of who I am, our work together is centered on you, your experiences, and what you hope to work through. You do not need to share my beliefs to feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
Choosing a counsellor is an important decision. I hope this gives you a sense of who I am, what I value, and how I work. If you feel we may be a good fit, I would be happy to connect with you for a free 15 minute consultation.
