You can come exactly as you are. There’s no need to prepare anything or have the right words. We can start wherever you are right now and work through what you’re experiencing together, one step at a time.
I provide online counselling for adults across Alberta navigating:
Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all formula. Some days you may need help making sense of what's happening or getting through a difficult week. Other times, you may be ready to work more deeply with old wounds and patterns. Our work can move between these depending on what you need.
We explore who you are, what matters to you, the relationships you want, and the strengths and interests that are uniquely yours. I support you in making choices and decisions based on what you value, what feels hopeful, and what matters to you.
You choose where we focus, and we can move at a pace that respects what you have been through.
If faith is important to you, I offer counselling from an accepting Christian perspective.
You do not have to be Christian to work with me, and faith does not have to be part of your therapy.
Many of our thoughts, emotions, reactions, and patterns begin to make more sense when we understand what was happening in our lives when they first developed.
Maybe you needed to cope, protect yourself, find certainty or control to feel safe, or stay connected in an important relationship. The difficult thoughts and feelings you are living with today may be understandable responses to what you’ve lived through.
Together, we can make sense of what you’ve been through, work through what still hurts, and begin building a life that is not defined by what happened to you.
Sometimes you need support with what is happening in your life right now. This might include practical tools and coping strategies, preparing for difficult conversations, or creating a plan for something you are facing.
When your nervous system takes over and you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unable to respond the way you want to, we can work with those moments together.
Whether you are having a panic attack, shutting down, disconnecting, or caught in loops of anxious thoughts, you don’t have to figure out how to handle these moments before you come.
I’m not going to stand on the shore and tell you how to row. I’ll get in the boat with you, and we’ll work our way toward shore together.
Sometimes coping isn’t enough. You may understand what happened and even know what you should do differently, but find that the same emotions, reactions, and relationship patterns keep taking over.
The deeper work can involve processing painful memories, working through emotions you may not have felt safe to experience, healing relationship wounds, and exploring the parts of you that become critical, fearful, people-pleasing, or withdrawn.
Together, we can explore what these responses are protecting and what you may need now instead.
Rather than focusing primarily on the content of an intrusive thought or trying to determine what it means, we work with the cycle of intrusive thoughts, fears, uncertainty, and compulsions that can keep OCD going.
OCD can take many forms. This may include relationship OCD (ROCD), pedophilia-themed OCD (POCD), responsibility OCD, scrupulosity, or other OCD themes.
Our work focuses on learning to respond differently to intrusive thoughts and uncertainty, reducing compulsions and reassurance seeking, and building your ability to move forward without needing complete certainty.
We work toward changing your relationship with uncertainty so that intrusive thoughts have less power over your choices, relationships, and daily life.
